Andhadhun: A Superb Thriller

Director Sriram Raghavan who gave us some fabulous movies, such as Badlapur, Johnny Gaddaar, and Ek Hasina Thi, is back with one more incredible thriller. Andhadhun was released last week on 5 October. It is a “Crime Thriller.” Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu, and Radhika Apte starrer movie is a masterpiece in its own genre.
Andhadhun Poster
Ayushmann Khurrana as a Blind Man
Ayushmann has played a role of a Blind Pianist who is struggling in his career. The movie is full of twists and turns. A story of several murders and how those murders change the lives of main characters and how those characters outsmart each other blows everyone’s mind. All actors did fabulous acting. Ayushmann Khurrana and Tabu, as always, nailed their roles. Andhadhun makes you sit tight on your seat till the very last scene. There are many scenes throughout the movie where dialogs urge the viewers to clap and whistle. There are a huge number of people who love to watch thriller movies like Drishyam, Baby, A Usual Suspect, Memento, The Departed, etc. Of course, Andhadhun is not a Hollywood movie, but this is indeed a once in a few year movie that Bollywood gave us in Crime Thriller genre. Many people will definitely think of watching this movie second time. It will not be wrong to say that Andhadhun is one of the finest movies of Ayushmann’s career so far. Raftaar and Amit Trivedi are the Music Directors of Andhadhun and there are not so many songs in the movie, but which are present, fit appropriately with the scenes and situations.
Nowadays it is not so common when we see a purely new and unexpected concept in a Hindi movie. Almost 60% movies in Bollywood are inspired or copied shamelessly from other movies. Andhadhun is one of those uncommon movies that have nothing to compare with other stories, but only a new and fresh story. This movie has only one Weak Point which is absence of big star cast. Despite lacking big names, this movie will touch 100 Crore Club (I hope so). Andhadhun will easily surpass its competitor Sui Dhaaga and is giving tough competition to Salman Khan’s presentation Loveyatri (earlier Loveratri). The only barrier in Andhadhun’s journey to 100 Crore Club is Venom.

I give 8.5 out of 10 to Andhadhun.

Sui Dhaaga: A Beautiful Topic with a Weak Storyline

Sui Dhaaga is a newly released 100% family movie featuring Varun Dhawan (as Mauji) and Anushka Sharma (as Mamta) in lead roles. The couple belongs to a lower middle class family. The story narrates love and mutual understanding of a married couple in adversities and also shows their struggle for earning respect and achieving their dreams. Mauji has lack of respect in society and in family as well, but his wife (Mamta) supports him at every step. As the movie’s name describes, family’s core profession is Tailoring, which, at the end, leads them to taste success. There are several emotional scenes throughout the movie. Anushka Sharma has nailed her role. Before the release of movie, she was a hot topic in the "Meme World," but after watching this movie people will definitely praise her acting. Her facial expressions are excellent. Varun Dhawan and side characters Raghubir yadav and Yamini Das (Mauji’s parents) have also done a really good job; they make people laugh and emotional in several scenes. If we talk about songs, all songs are just average and there’s no catchy or touchy song that can be remembered for several days.

There are many botches in movie, for example, Mauji can pronounce word 'tasty' properly but he pronounces 'Made' as 'Mad' in the whole movie; the man is lying on a bed in hospital for donating blood for his mother's operation, suddenly his wife calls him to collect money from patients cum customers to sew their gowns and he just removed the needle and ran for the money, and funny thing is nobody cared about his mother's operation after that scene. "Seriously! What on Earth was going on?"
Director Sharat Katariya, who gave us a surprising hit Dum Laga Ke Haisha, has tried nothing new in this movie. Even the theme of the climax is quite similar to Dum Laga Ke Haisha. All initial-days’ earning of this movie is dependent on a big star cast. Sui Dhaaga is already getting some competition from comedy movie Pataakha, and it is very obvious that Sui Dhaaga cannot compete with upcoming big movies such as Venom. The number of shows of Sui Dhaaga will definitely be decreased in upcoming Friday, and this week will be its last in many theaters, especially in non-Hindi states.
I will give Sui Dhaaga 5.5 out of 10.
